So, who celebrated National Relaxation Day yesterday and took the day off to do some power lounging?
Me neither, it seems that the allure of a “spa day” was overruled by the start of school for my boys next week, a basketball game, soccer registration, work and my martial arts classes.
For those of you who joined me in neglecting what I suspect is the spa industry’s version of a “Hallmark Holiday”, WebMD has prepared a nice little read on stress management that can be viewed here.
All joking aside, one thing that I learned from helping to develop Xigo’s new products for energy management is that an energetic day starts with a good night’s sleep the evening before. Give these tips a try, and if you still need a gentle nudge to help you get a great night’s rest, take a look at Nighttime Repose from Xigo, a truly unique nighttime formula.

I commented recently on our Facebook page about the backbreaking work of picking beans and lettuce from our backyard garden. But the fresh veggies we get are certainly worth it, especially as I watched my eight year old eat the raw beans right out of the colander. And the lettuce truly was the sweetest I’ve tasted, even better than my local farmer’s market.

Let’s face it, you and everyone you know wants to lose a few pounds. I am relatively fit woman who eats well the majority of the time but the combination of a busy schedule and aging hormones keep me aware that my shorts aren’t always as loose as I’d like them to be. Of course I know the mantra: get your exercise, don’t eat sweets, lay off the soda and watch portion size. That’s why I thought this article was interesting because it had more unique suggestions about how to keep the pounds off. Check it out here.

I am a pretty avid TV-hater, a fact which my kids know all too well, and I see the detriment of America reflected in the screens of video games, televisions and Xbox 360’s everywhere. An exaggeration, of course, but now especially with summer and more down time, I remain determined to keep my children outside and active and not glued to the electronic babysitter. They only finished school last week so we are still figuring out the rules of engagement for summer fun, but they’ve heard me say often enough how “screens rot your brain” so they know the more relaxed summer months do not necessarily equal more time in front of the tube.

As a vegetarian and avid defender of the goodness of vegetables (especially among the under 12 set in my house), it was awful to hear about the recent outbreak of E. coli in Europe being linked to sprouts, one of the healthiest of foods.
